GAME OF THRONES 90s ERA

(Jon Snow and Joffrey Baratheon)

What “Game of Thrones” would have looked like if the action had been set in the 90s?

What if swords, bows, spears and armors had been replaced with some NES guns, bats and tracksuits?
This is a fun project i ve been recently starting, imagining all the characters fighting for the throne in a 90s grunge/gangsta era.

Working now on Daenerys. More characters coming soon….

Authority is relevant here because the art world does not deal in widgets. What it values is fundamentally symbolic, interpretable. Hence the ability to evaluate—the power to deem certain things and ideas significant and critical—is precious. Starting in the 1960s, the university became the privileged route into the rapidly growing American art world. And in October’s wake, that world systematically rewarded a particular kind of linguistic weirdness
International Art English (via mollycrabapple)
You sit in the back of the class because you’re ashamed of your hand-me-downs. You can’t afford glasses so you can’t see the board. You don’t have enough money for your own art supplies, and your school doesn’t supply them because all that money goes to the jocks, so you guiltily shoplift them. The entire machine you’re being pushed through is engineered to ignore you in favor of the elites. The athletes. The rich kids.
If you choose, right now will be your lowest ebb. And right now will be the highest pinnacle of the elites.
If you nurture it, if you are tender with yourself, your suffering now makes you strong in the future. It lights a fire in your heart. This fire fuels you. As the elites lazily drift from one free opportunity to the next, you’re being given the gift of hardship. You’ll have to be harder than them. You’ll have to be smarter than them. You’ll have to be faster than them. Make yourself be these things. Use the gift of the shadow you’ve been placed in to forge new and striking ways of thinking, doing, and being.
The elites will become cogs in the machine. You will become a bright, silver, indestructible wrench that breaks it. You will become the creator of your own machine, and they will envy you your purity.
And the money they inherited, they will give to you. And unlike them, you will have earned it.
They will buy your art. They will pay you for your ideas. They will line up outside your club, behind the velvet rope you have a former athlete guarding. They will beg for backstage passes to your show. They will pay you for VIP access to your company. They will always ask themselves, “Why didn’t I think of that?” And you’ll know, “Because you didn’t have to.”
Hang in there. It will happen. The present belongs to them. The future belongs to you.
Love,
Clayton

Taralyn the Cat Queen is finally completed! This was probably the most challenging painting I’ve done in my series, due to the size 22 x 30 which is way bigger than I’m used to painting and filling that entire space with all my crazy ass details!  Probably will go a tad smaller for the next one!
Definitely had a lot of fun with transforming my little cousin into a the Cat Queen. Coming up with the entire mythical, feel wasn’t hard seeing as how the Cat has been a symbol of magic, shape shifting  and witchcraft  by several different cultures from around the world.
Here, I really wanted to play with the theme of the misunderstood and shape shifting, and “cat magic,” (yes there is such a thing). I liked the idea of this girl being forced to spend most of her life as an obedient, timid, girl in her human disguise, but then invoking her powers of feline magic to transform into who she really is; a beautiful, slightly disobedient, and fearless queen who protects and nurtures the creatures she is most connected to.  She has two of her most loyal subjects peaking out from behind her, along with her two Raven companions, who, have also been associated with shape shifting and witch craft, throughout history.  Ravens, like both the Cat and the Witch, were also targets for slaughter by paranoid Puritans .. But here they stay in their paradise of the feline kingdom were everyone is safe, disobedient, and happy…witch or no witch.
Totally going to pass out now, fingers are falling off as I type

Another beautiful fantasy portrait from my dear friend Jessica Ross! You better watch out for her because, she’s amazing! And I can’t wait to see how her portrait of me turns out!
